Symptoms of Systemic Yeast Infections

Because the symptoms of systemic yeast infections are often very similar to those seen in other diseases, it is not always easy to identify this condition. This means that a systemic infection may not be recognised immediately and may therefore be allowed to develop significantly before suitable treatment is begun.

A regular yeast infection tends to be limited to one specific localised area whereas a systemic infection develops from the spread of organisms throughout different parts of the body.   When a systemic infection occurs the organisms may be found in the gastro-intestinal system, the digestive system including the mouth, and of course the genito-urinary system.   As a result you will also find the symptoms of systemic yeast infections occurring in any of these areas.

With the ability to infect such a wide range of organs it is essential that you seek urgent medical advice if you suspect you are experiencing the symptoms of systemic yeast infections.   This is necessary because before you begin any treatment you need an accurate diagnosis to ensure that you are in fact dealing with a systemic yeast infection and not some other condition that may also be indicated by the symptoms you have.

Some of the more common symptoms of systemic yeast infections may include:

  • Respiratory problems such as those seen in asthma and other allergies
  • Fatigue, weakness and lethargy
  • Acid reflux
  • Stomach upsets such as those seen in irritable bowel syndrome
  • Bloating and constipation
  • Dermatological issues such as eczema, acne, hives and psoriasis
  • Emotional and mental issues including memory loss, irritability, depression, confusion, poor concentration
  • Increased uric acid leading to gout
  • Deformation of skeletal bone tissue, stiffness or inflammation such as seen in arthritis and fibromyalgia

As you can see, initially this list of symptoms appears to be totally unrelated and this is why diagnosis can often be quite difficult and in many cases usually mistaken for another condition altogether.  If this occurs and the symptoms of systemic yeast infections are allowed to go untreated for a prolonged period, the risk of serious illness becomes a very real possibility.

When a systemic infection occurs the organisms responsible are no longer just limited to one localised area of the body and if left untreated, the toxins they release will continue to extend even further into the body’s vital organs.    That’s why it is essential to get an accurate diagnosis and start comprehensive treatment as soon as you suspect that something is not right.

Because the symptoms of systemic yeast infections are quite varied, and can occur in various organs throughout the body the treatment will need to be much more aggressive than that applied to a localised infection. Conventional medications tend to be designed for treating the symptoms of one specific and localised ailment, thereby making it very difficult to treat a systemic infection.  As an alternative, more and more people are now turning to natural and holistic methods which have the benefit of treating the body as a whole system.

So, if you suspect you have a systemic yeast infection, first get an accurate diagnosis from a medical practitioner.   Once it is confirmed you can then choose to go down either the conventional medical route or take a natural or holistic approach.  Holistic treatments usually involve using natural solutions which are obviously safer (because they are natural) and tend not to have any side affects.  They are also usually a cheaper alternative and are extremely effective at clearing up the symptoms of systemic yeast infections because they treat the body as a whole helping every area that the yeast has managed to infiltrate.
